APC Claims Atiku is Not A Nigerian - Shehu Sani Reacts

The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central at the National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, has reacted to the claim by the ruling All Progressives Congress that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is not a Nigerian.

The APC had yesterday filed a motion at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.
The Party, in the petition filed by its lead counsel, Lateef Fagbemi faulted the candidacy of Atiku in the election, claiming that Atiku is a Cameroonian and not a Nigerian citizen.

APC, hence stated that the former Vice President petition against President Muhammadu Buhari, its own candidate, should be dismissed for lacking in merit.

Shehu Sani said the claims could reignite frosty issues between Nigeria and Cameroon. He tweeted, “The ruling had Be cautious in your politics not to reignite Nigeria Cameroun frosty historical issues, so that they don’t renew claims to the old Sardauna province and then we will end up loosing a potion of our northern territory like the Bakassi. ”READ MORE:

INEC say they are ‘satisfied’ By Buhari’s Academic Qualification

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it was satisfied by the academic documents submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari while running for office.

Mr Buhari’s early school certificate was one of the major grounds of a petition filed against his victory by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

Mr Abubakar’s legal team said Mr Buhari claimed, in INEC filings, to have attended a school that could not be traced. He also said Mr Buhari claimed to bear a certificate that wasnot in existence at the time he claimed to have obtained it.

But in its response to Mr Abubakar’s grounds at the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal in Abuja, INEC said it had no objections about Mr Buhari’s academic documents.

The commission said it was “satisfied with the educational qualification presented” by Mr Buhari to contest for office, according to excerpts of its submission seen by PREMIUM TIMES.

It argued that Mr Abubakar’s petition was “incompetent”, “lacking in merit” and “frivolous”. It also prayed the court to dismiss it.

Minimum Wage: Sign N30,000 Bill Before May Day Or Face Strike – Workers Warn Buhari

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Oyo State chapter, has condemned the delay in the signing of the N30,000 minimum wage into law by President Muhammad Buhari.

The lower and upper chambers of the National Assembly had earlier in the year passed the N30,000 minimum wage bill as against the N27,000 recommendation of the council of states.

The bill has, however, been awaiting presidential assent.
In March, Buhari received the report of the Technical Advisory Committee on the implementation of the new National Minimum Wage, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Buhari had on January 9 inaugurated the advisory committee chaired by an economist and financial expert, Mr. Bismarck Rewane.

A statement at the weekend by Oyo State Chairman of ASCSN, Comrade Babatunde Balogun, said: “We won’t be able to assure the President industrial peace and harmony in the country if the passed minimum wage bill is not assented to by the President before May-Day celebration on 1st of May, 2019’’.

Balogun lamented that the Nigerian workers have gone through harsh economic and financial situation since the inception of the Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) government, saying ‘’one would have expected the government to pay the resilience and unbearable economic situation of workers with speedy assent of the passed Bill into law’’. ‘’But if the government failed to assent before the Mayday celebration, we won’t be able to assure the government industrial peace in the country.
“The workers’ economic conditions have moved from bad to worse under this government and allwe can get now is this unwarranted and avoidable delay in assenting to the passed new minimum wage regime that we’ve been battling for 18 months now.
“This is high act of wickedness and is unacceptable to us’’, Balogun stressed.

Four Things Buhari Did In Dubai

President Muhammadu Buhari during his official visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), performed four strategic functions, including appearing before Nigerians who are based in the country for a ‘grilling’ session on his performance in office.

President Muhammadu Buhari who arrived Dubai on Sunday from Jordan where he had participated in the World Economic Forum (WEF) on the Middle East and North Africa, following an invitation by King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, kick started his engagement with bilateral meetings on Monday.

Invited by His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as guest of honour at the ninth edition of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM), Buhari delivered the keynote address at the event.

Buhari as a ‘marketer’

Before he went to the venue of the AIM, Buhari had six bilateral meetings with investors where he wooed them with a pledge of handsome returns on their investment in Nigeria. Kick starting the overture with Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, Buhari told them that they would prosper if they invest in Nigeria.

He said: “ Come over to Nigeria and prosper. Come and have handsome returns on your investments within the shortest possible time.”

Al Maktoum is interested in establishing a power plant in Lagos, and studies have already been completed. Relevant government agencies including the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council ( NIPC) have been directed to act on it immediately.

Same was said to the Lulu Group which operates a chain of supermarkets in the Middle East and Asia. Chairman of the group, Mr Yusuff Alli, told President Buhari that the outfit, with headquarters in Abu Dhabi, has over 164 supermarkets and shopping malls. It employs over 50,000 people.

Founded in year 2000, Alli said his group was interested in working with Nigerian farmers. Quality, affordability and hygiene are the watchwords of his company, he said.

Also in a bilateral meeting with President Buhari was Sheikh Hussain Al Nowais, the Chairman of Amea Power. Similar meetings were held by the president with Sheikh Ali Rashid Lootah, the Chairman, Nakheel Properties and Limitless Group.

Buhari also met with the CEO of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), Sheikh Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi. ADFD has supported over 66 projects in 29 African countries. The president’s discussion with him was focused on rural solar power and water projects.

He also met with Mr Jitender Sachdeva, the CEO of Skipperseil Group. An integrated energy company with operations in the manufacturing of substation equipment, discussions were on engineering, processing, construction of transmission lines and substations for utilities, institutions and industries.

It was after the bilateral meetings that the president went to the venue of the AIM, which drew participants from 143 countries. A thunderous applause welcomed him to the venue.

According to the organisers, the meeting was the largest gathering of corporate leaders, policymakers, businessmen, regional and international investors, entrepreneurs, leading academics and experts showcasing up-to-date information, strategies and knowledge on attracting FDI.

Call to global leaders

A keynote speech at the AIM was Buhari’s second assignment in Dubai. The thrust of the president’s address was a call on world leaders to come up with proposals to create a digital world that is accessible, inclusive and safe for all.

The president’s key words were: ‘‘More recently, we are also witnessing the use of the cyberspace to manipulate elections, subvert the democratic rights of citizens as well as propagate violence.

‘‘In effect, the digital world has become the new frontier for both good and evil. Therefore, the challenge for world leaders must be to ensure that this space is inclusive, accessible and safe.”

Meeting with the Crown Prince

On Tuesday, the president travelled to Abu Dhabi by road to meet with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of the emirate. Dubai to Abu Dhabi is an hour’s trip by road.

The meeting was Buhari’s third assignment in UAE. During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed the need to work together to further consolidate on the strong relationship and mutual respect between the countries. They also discussed areas of enhancing and expanding mutual cooperation between Nigeria UAE. Buhari and the Crown Prince, who is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Forces, also discussed education, healthcare, agriculture, climate change and population growth.

Buhari’s ‘grilling’ in Dubai

For an hour, President Buhari had an interactive session with Nigerians based in the UAE. Over 10,000 Nigerians are in that country. The session started by 4:24pm Dubai time. Moderated by Abike Dabiri, the presidential aide on Diaspora, the session climaxed with the grilling of Buhari by Nigerians in the country.

The grilling was started by Charles Igwe, a Dubai-based Nigerian businessman. He asked the president, “What should we Nigerians expect from you in your second term?”

Another Nigerian asked the president : “What are you doing to bring treasury looters to justice ? Your boss, your subordinates and others. Many are saying the president can only bark, he can’t bite. When are you going to bite like a lion?”

Buhari was also questioned thus: “In your first tenure people called you ‘Baba-go-slow’, what are you going to do to make sure that you act fast like a volcanic eruption and ensure that things are properly fixed in the country?”

Other questions were asked on what he is doing to diversify the economy and the gold mining challenge in the country, especially in Zamfara.

One-after-the-other, Buhari responded to the questions. After recalling how he sent late Shehu Shagari and other top government officials at that time to prison over corruption cases, he said: “I have once ruled this country, some of you know that once upon a time I came in uniform and what I did was to arrest from the president downward. The president, vice president, governors and ministers, other than the president and the vice president, the others, I put them in Kiri-Kiri, and I told them they were guilty until they could prove themselves innocent.

“And you know, subsequently what happened, we set up about six tribunals based on the geopolitical zones, and those who were ministers and governors were asked to justify what they had in the banks and physically on the ground relative to their legitimate earnings.

“There were only two Nigerians then to my knowledge who were found to be very honourable, both of them are dead now: Bilyaminu Usman, a junior minister from Jigawa State and Adamu Chiroma, the Minister of Finance and Governor of Central Bank. They were incredible Nigerians.

“But you know what happened, eventually, I myself was arrested, I was put in detention for three and a quarter years, luckily for me, I was so stupid, I didn’t take anybody’s money, so there was no bad publicity for me because they couldn’t find anything against me.

“So, whoever calls me ‘Baba go slow’, I’m very cautious of historical antecedents. Since I was in a hurry, I was locked up, I’m going slow so that I can survive.”

On what to expect in his second term, he said the next level would be for the consolidation of the successes recorded in the first tenure. The president listed the areas to include economy, security and the fight against corruption. Buhari said the country’s economy is being diversified through the stimulation of the agricultural sector.

Talking on the mismanagement under the 16 years of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he said, “I think one of the leaders of those administrations made a slip of tongue by saying that they spent $16bn, not naira on power. But, where is the power and where is the $16bn? May be eventually by the end of this term we will get at it.

Farmers/Herders clashes

Buhari, while talking on the herdsmen and farmers’ clashes, said, “I told Audu Ogbeh, the Minister of Agriculture, to look at the gazette of the First Republic to get the cattle routes, get the grazing routes and re-establish them so that we can reduce it.”

Accompanied by Governors Abubakar Badaru, Godwin Obaseki and Abubakar Sani Bello of Jigawa, Edo and Niger states respectively, the president went straight to the airport from the venue of town-hall meeting.

Others on the entourage included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; the National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Babagana Monguno (rtd), and other top government officials.

See Mr Ibu's younger Sister Chioma Egboh, Who Instigated The Stroke Rumour

Nollywood actor, John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu, had to make a video recently to debunk a rumour about his health condition after it was reported that he was down with a stroke.

The 57-year-old said that it was his sister, who instigated the fake news about his health.
He stated, “I don’t know what actually happened; one of my sisters was also part of the rumour mongers. “She just opened a media house; so she is looking for a way to make her brand go viral. I feel she should have consulted me before spreading this kind of news and I would have given her another angle to explore such that it would not affect my image.

Based on Mr Ibu's revelations it's obvious that his sister Queen Chioma Egboh who recently opened a new media firm " Politics And Life Magazine" instigated the rumour to boast her readership and attract followers to her new platform.

According to e-Nigeria which first broke the news "We also spoke with Mr. Ibu’s younger sister Chioma at 2.31p.m. on her Glo line ending with … 2135 "They further stated that Chioma confirmed that the brother (Mr. Ibu) had stroke and also confirmed that he was fast recuperating, and that it was a spiritual attack.

The popular actor further stressed “I have forgiven my sister for what she did. I am alive and well, my wife was very angry over the news and wanted to take action but I told her not to do so. “I’ve left it to God for Him to defend me.”

Askedn Records boss, Michael Ajereh popularly known as Don Jazzy, speaks on his marital status.

In an exclusive telephone chat with Punch Saturday Beats, the ‘Dorobucci’ crooner noted that though he is in a relationship at the moment, he is not in a hurry to get married.
He said, “I don’t bring up issues about my relationship status on purpose. People always talk about it. “It is not difficult to find a wife; there are many beautiful women out there. It is not like I am ready; I am not the perfect version of what I would like to be to my wife and family. “I want to work on myself until I am ready. By the time I am ready, if someone still wants to be with me, that would be great. “It is not like I am looking for a wife and cannot find one. There are lots of nice and beautiful ladies out there. I don’t think I am there yet. I am not in a hurry. “If time passes and nobody wants to marry me, then so be it but for now, I don’t feel I have worked on myself enough. “I don’t want a scenario where I would get married and my music or business would take me away and the next thing would be that my wife would start complaining that I am hardly around. Then people would start saying he doesn’t care about his family. I don’t need that type of talk in my life. “Let me be on my own, whenever I am ready, I am ready. I have a girlfriend; I have had different girlfriends in the last 10 years. I can’t just be single; I never said I was celibate. The relationship can break, she can leave me and go, and it is possible. “My other ex-girlfriends left me, they didn’t break my heart, they just moved on, some of them are married now, if they were still waiting for me, they won’t be married by now. “People have their personal agendas and it is understandable. For me, I am not in a hurry.”

The talented music producer, also emphasised that he does not have a child outside wedlock, stressing that to the best of his knowledge, nobody has had a child for him. He said, “I didn’t hear anything about having a child outside wedlock. I don’t have a child yet or maybe somebody has a child for me somewhere and they don’t want me to know about it but I don’t know why they won’t want me to know about such a thing. “If anyone has a child for me, they should bring the child forward. To the best of my knowledge, I don’t have a child yet.”

Speaking of his days with Mo-hits crew, Don Jazzy said that he never imagined that the day would come when the record label and gang would not exist anymore.

He said, “When I created Mo-hits, I never imagined it won’t exist one day. Nobody gives birth to a child with the hope that the child would die. “I knew I was going to be doing music for as long as possible and thought Mo-hits was going to be around forever. But that is how life is.”
Asked why he always exudes happiness on the social media despite negative comments from some fans at times, the 36-year-old said that he feels it was disrespectful to focus on negative comments all the time.

He added, “I think it is disrespectful to the people that love what you do. If I post a picture, I would have thousands of comments. I don’t expect all of them to be positive. “It is disrespectful to give attention to the negative comments. I concentrate on the positive messages; I don’t give attention to trolls. ”CRDT: Punch Source: https://www.mediahelm.com.ng/2019/04/i-have-girlfriend-but-not-in-hurry-for.html
